Little Miss Sunshine Review

The movie, "Little Miss Sunshine" written by Michael Arndt and directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris is a film about the hardships that families have to face to help their children follow their dreams. In the movie, Olive wants to go to a beauty pageant in California, Little Miss Sunshine, and her family faces a lot of "bumps in the road" along the way. They face a lot of car problems and the children's grandfather passes away.. With all that came their way- they still made it to the pageant and by the end of the movie the family was closer than ever. The film had a lot of unexpected things in it and it included a lot of characteristics that I also did not expect. "Growing Up Ethan" When I first was looking all of the Op-Docs on New York Times, I was unsure of what to expect. Naturally, I gravitated towards ones that had an interesting title and an interesting cover picture. This video was about a boy named Ethan who had Autism. The film-maker asking Ethan's siblings to describe Ethan as a person and they seemed to express worry for him because they are unsure of where Ethan will be in the future and they made him sound like a "chore" to take care of. In Ethan's school program, they often write goals for themselves and they read them out loud for their family to hear. Ethan's parents often said that Ethan's goals do not seem rational for his current state and they wanted him to have more practical goals for himself. 10 Ways to Have a Better Conversation

This video brought to light things that all of us didn't know we needed to hear. With the global pandemic going on and with such a lack of communication with others because of it, we forget how to have a conversation. It doesn't matter how good of a communicator you are.. We all lost our social skills over the past 8 months of this virus. Though I never thought a video TED talk would teach me how to have a better conversation, it really did change my perspective on the ideas and questions to bring up while having one; ideas that I never would have even thought of before the virus came around. As teenagers, we aren't really the best communicators to begin with.. No matter how interested we are in a topic or how in depth we are into the conversation, most of the time we don't know what to say.
