10 Ways to Have a Better Conversation

This video brought to light things that all of us didn't know we needed to hear. With the global pandemic going on and with such a lack of communication with others because of it, we forget how to have a conversation. It doesn't matter how good of a communicator you are.. We all lost our social skills over the past 8 months of this virus. Though I never thought a video TED talk would teach me how to have a better conversation, it really did change my perspective on the ideas and questions to bring up while having one; ideas that I never would have even thought of before the virus came around.

As teenagers, we aren't really the best communicators to begin with.. No matter how interested we are in a topic or how in depth we are into the conversation, most of the time we don't know what to say. I really enjoyed how she listed her points on how to have a better conversation. She was very clear yet descriptive. Though these points are mostly pointed towards "how to have a better conversation", I really think that these points can be directed towards life itself as well. "Don't be half in it. Be all in or all out" I think that is so important with relationships, schoolwork, conversations or anything you want to direct your concentration to. "Assume you have something to learn" goes perfectly along with learning what you want to direct your concentration towards. Also, learning how to ask questions is so important so you get more out of the conversation and it leaves the other person feel heard.

Though these points are extremely helpful towards how to have a better conversation, they're important to remember throughout life as well. If we learn how to listen, go with the flow, put down our phones and really listen to people, we will find the best connections and then best things/people in life and be able to keep them around because we are actually paying attention.
