Little Miss Sunshine Review

The movie, "Little Miss Sunshine" written by Michael Arndt and directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris is a film about the hardships that families have to face to help their children follow their dreams. In the movie, Olive wants to go to a beauty pageant in California, Little Miss Sunshine, and her family faces a lot of "bumps in the road" along the way. They face a lot of car problems and the children's grandfather passes away.. With all that came their way- they still made it to the pageant and by the end of the movie the family was closer than ever.

The film had a lot of unexpected things in it and it included a lot of characteristics that I also did not expect. It was very interesting that the son, Dwayne did not speak for most of the movie because of a dream he had. Though it showed a form of discipline, I was surprised that being mute was the route he took; but once he found out he was colorblind he knew his dream was crushed so he began speaking again. I also thought it was different how obvious the parents made it that Olive was not the "typical" pageant girl. They made comments about her body and compared the way she looked to the other little girls and because of how they viewed her, she started to doubt herself and they tried to keep her from going on stage because they were worried she would get made fun of.

I very much enjoyed this movie and would love to watch it again sometime to gain more views about the characters and the plot of it!
